Free scarf pattern for Barney the Bear



I have been crocheting Barney the Bear for a commission and my customer wanted a scarf for Barney. I designed one and I thought I would share it with you all for free so you can make your Barney the Bear his very own scarf. Materials




  • 100% Acrylic Light Worsted (Double Knit) yarn in 2 colors, one for the scarf and one for the fringing.
  • 3.5mm (E-4) crochet hook
  • Large eye tapestry needle
  • Scissors

Abbreviations


ch: chain – insert hook into loop. Yarn around hook, pull yarn through loop.
hdc: half double crochet – wrap yarn around hook and insert hook into stitch. Yarn around hook and draw loop through the stitch. 3 loops on hook, yarn around hook and draw loop through all 3 loops.
st(s): stitch(es)
RS: right side

Scarf
Using scarf color ch64
row 1 (RS): 1hdc in 2nd ch from hook, 1hdc in each st till end, turn, ch1 (63sts)
row 2: In front loop only 1hdc in each st till end, turn, ch1 (63sts)
row 3: In front loop only 1hdc in each st till end (63sts)
Fasten off

Making up
Cut 8 x 5"  (13cm) lengths of yarn in the color you have chosen for the fringe.

Fold a length in half and thread through the eye of the tapestry needle.

Push the needle through the end of scarf

Pull the ends of the yarn through leaving the loop on the other side 

Take the needle off the yarn and pull the ends of the yarn through the loop and pull tight


Add 4 tassels to each end of the scarf. When you have finished trim the ends so they are all the same length.

Free pattern: Sheldon the Egg



Sheldon the Egg is an early Easter present for you all! Sheldon dreams of being an astronaut. He would love to see the Earth from space as it looks Blue and Green like him!




Materials

Acrylic Light Worsted (double knit) yarn in following colors:-
Blue
Green
Yellow
Note: Only small amounts of each color are used so 25g balls will be plenty.

3.5mm (E-4) crochet hook

Stitch marker

Stuffing

Darning needle

Sewing needle

Black embroidery thread

Black sewing thread

2 x 5mm Black beads for the eyes

Abbreviations
ch: Chain – insert hook into loop. Yarn around hook, pull yarn through loop.

sc: single crochet – insert hook into stitch and draw up a loop. 2 loops on hook. Yarn over hook and pull yarn through both loops.

sc2tog: single crochet 2 together - insert hook into stitch and draw up a loop. Insert hook into next stitch and draw through a loop. 3 loops on hook. Yarn over hook and pull yarn through all 3 loops.

ss: slip stitch – insert hook into stitch, yarn around hook and draw through both the stitch and the loop on the hook.

magic ring: Make a loop by wrapping the yarn around 2 fingers twice. Make a chain by pulling through the ball end of the yarn through the loop. Work the required amount of sc into the loop. Pull the tail end of the yarn to tighten until there is no hole visible.

Egg
Using Blue yarn
Round 1: using magic ring crochet 6sc into loop. Tighten.
Round 2: 2sc into each st (12sts)
Round 3: *1sc in next st, 2sc in next st; rep from * to end (18sts)
Round 4: *1sc in next 2sts, 2sc in next st; repeat from * till end (24sts)
Round 5: *1sc in next 3sts, 2sc in next st; repeat from * till end (30sts)
Rounds 6-9: 1sc in each st
Round 10: *sc2tog, 1sc in next 13sts; repeat from * till end (28sts)
Round 11: *sc2tog, 1sc in next 12sts; repeat from * till end (26sts)
Round 12: *sc2tog, 1sc in next 11sts; repeat from * till end (24sts)
Round 13: 1sc in each st
Round 14: *sc2tog, 1sc in next 10sts; repeat from * till end (22sts)
Round 15: *sc2tog, 1sc in next 9sts; repeat from * till end (20sts)
Round 16: *sc2tog, 1sc in next 8sts; repeat from * till end (18sts)

(stuff egg)

Round 17: *1sc in next st, sc2tog; repeat from * till end (12sts)

(add a little more stuffing to the top of the egg)

Round 18: sc2tog till opening closed
Fasten off

Leg (make 2)
Using Yellow yarn
Ch6
Fasten off

Foot (make 2)
Using Yellow yarn
Ch5
Row 1: 1sc in second ch from hook, 1sc in each ch till end, turn (4sts)
Row 2: ch1, 1sc in each st, turn (4sts)
Row 3: *ch4, ss in next st; repeat from * till end (12chs)
Fasten off

Making up
Sew the legs to the feet.

Sew the legs to the bottom of the egg towards the front.

Sew the 5mm Black beads to the egg to make the eyes.

Using 3 strands of Black embroidery thread sew a mouth just under the eyes.

Using Green yarn cut 5 x 5” lengths. Using a darning needle thread the yarn through the top of the head (see fig 1 and 2).

Tie in a knot (see fig 3 and 4).

Repeat for the other 4 lengths of yarn. Trim the hair to the desired length.

Weave in all ends.
